Global Packet Loss. When you lose a packet, you need to resend. Resending on this scale, up from 8.5% to 17% in the last couple days = internet traffic jam.
or MASSIVE INTERNET ATTACK happening.
Visit AKAMAI'd realtime web monitor and see that the number of global ATTACKS, LATENCY and TRAFFIC are well above normal. Even if internet nodes are destroyed or down, the protocol will just find another route, but this obviously adds to the latency.
Overnight, these global internet nodes were 100% down.
