did adult city-based 3D gaming just go photo-realistic?

Interesting geoverse video. Looks like the key point of their technology rests on the observation that the number of screen space pixels is much lower than the number of data points. Divide the data into appropriate spaces (a la BSP, quadtree, et al), and yeah, I guess it would be that fast. Similar technique to the ye olde raytracers of the 80s and 90s.
