NEW STORY PUBLISHED - KEEPING IT TOGETHER:

Paying website Science Fiction Fantasy Horror . com has just published my latest story "Keeping It Together". At 3,500 words, it's not the story of mental collapse but the very structure of the universe. My second successful submission for their specially-created Bizarro category.

PUBLISHED, CABBAGE PATCH DOLL IS DEAD:

Meat Hook Press (formerly known as Skull Vomit Books) which is run by the delightful Dean R Winters have just published their e-book STD (stabbed, tortured, dismembered). Nice, eh? It features three long and extreme stories by David L Tamarin, Nickolas Cook and Dean R Winters.

It also contains Bonus Material from the likes of Kyle Kusec, John Edward Lawson, Kenji Siratori and your truly. The story CABBAGE PATCH DOLL IS DEAD by Mike Philbin. Been a long time finding a publisher brave enough to host this, but Meat Hook Press sure are brave, there's no doubting that. And what great company to find oneself in.

Those with a fetish for nostalgia, can also check out my Hertzan Chimera story BULL FUCKER in this sexy little ebook (edited by John Edward Lawson way back when).

SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE....

...fish?

That's not how the world ends, is it? With that stupid phrase?

*checks about him*

Nope, still there. Wow, what am I talking about. Oh, yes, THE HITCH HIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY MOVIE. It was so SHIT it made me weep with joy. In fact, it was such a perfect adaptation of (my memory of) the book that it makes me want to go back in time and read the four or five other books that made up the original Pan trilogy. Cool, theme tune, too that "so long and thanks for all the fish", guys.

God bless you Douglas Adams, you (and your (posthumous) movie) have given me hope and now I can finally...

*looks straight up* what's that big shadow across the Earth?

AFTER DARK IN 2010!!!

I've just had the distinct pleasure to read (the Philip Gabriel translated) KAFKA ON THE SHOR by Haruki Murakami. I hear that Mr Murakami has just released his latest novel "After Dark". No, not in the UK, it's not scheduled to be published here before 2010!!!

I could learn Japanese by then to a sufficient standard to not need the translator's hand-holding. But you know what, I'll probably hang in there. Gabriel's such a good translator - I hope he's got the gig.

HEADS + KENJI = CSS:

Fellow bizarro "HeadsFromSpace" (and that's a registered nomme de guerre) has just done a very sexy-looking hypertext in association with crazy alternative fiction guru Kenji Siratori.

"Kenji Siratori is a sort of Cyberpunk author and I think you'll find his writing "experimental" to say the least. He is fairly well known and has fans as well as harsh critics. He lives in Japan." as HeadsFromSpace puts it.

END FRACTION - Kenji + Heads.

PRISON OF THE PSYCHOTIC DAMNED:

Yup, that's my Chimeraworld #2 and #3 writing buddy David L Tamarin on the set of the Red Scream Productions film Prison of the Psychotic Damned: Terminal Remix.

Fucking zombie madness, as he might put it.

CHIMERAWORLD #3 GALLEY:

I sent out the first draft of the full Chimeraworld #3 galley to the 23 writers whose stories were chosen for inclusion in this year's extravaganza of strangeness and brutality. I now have a very strong (IMHO) layout of the stories to move gracefully (if with utter disgust) from the truly stunning opening story, through the powerful misogynist/terrorist middle section to the sci-fi/atheist finale. The closing story is a proper little belter. What a perfect way to end an anthology.

SPICY SLIPSTREAM STORIES, FALL 2006:

Word just in from Jay Lake:

TEL Stories, which contains my short story THE MIDAS TOUCH, was launched at WFC this weekend and contributor copies are on their way. Nice.

Then, Jay Lake (and co-editor Nick Mamatas) informs me that my later submission MY POLYMORPHIC LOVER (yeah, the one that Surreal magazine turned down) has been accepted for inclusion in SPICY SLIPSTREAM STORIES, the paperback is due for publications in Autumn 2006.

Oh, yes!

STRANGE WINGLESS BOEING 737:

Bizarre dream I had this morning - it actually woke me up. I was on this beach (somewhere I didn't recognise) and there was this aeroplane like a Boeing 737 in the air. It looked like something had ripped its wings off. It was swirling around wtih its nose in the air as if in a hurricane but the air was still. Then myself and some young lad were running away from THE HEAT RAY, sheltering behind seaside beach huts before they burst into flames. As we ran between these beach huts, the boys hair caught fire. I dunno. Don't ask me.

It smacks of evil portent but I hope that's unfounded.

SFFH.com MOST READ STORIES:

News just in from Dan C Rinnert, editor/owner of ScienceFictionFantasyHorror.com that both my stories, the horror story "Brotherly Love" and the bizarro story "Beyond The Sea", have risen in position in the SFFH MOST READ STORY CHART for the third month in a row. Not only that but the readership of SFFH is increasing monthly as more and more online fiction readers get to know about this great alternative fiction venue (that pays good $).

In October 2005, "Beyond the Sea" jumped from its September #5 spot
to the #3 Most Read Story. "Brotherly Love" jumped from #7 in September to #5 in October.

I'm particularly pleased with the swift rise towards the top of the chart for my bizarro story Beyond The Sea: this bodes very well for my forthcoming bizarro story at SFFH "Keeping It All Together". Stay tuned, readers, it's coming soon.

ZOMBIE FUCKER, THE MOVIE:

Rumour has it (from Alex Severin, my collaborator on that short story who now lives in the greasy old U.S.of.A.) that some independent movie studio of ill-repute is gonna be making ZOMBIE FUCKER, the movie -- anyone who's read our original story (first published in the 2002 collection BROKEN) knows that's gonna be some pretty messed up zombie-lusting shit. More details to follow...

Holy Hell!
