aka The Ten Commandments
my feeling is this, and it's just a feeling, an educated stab in the dark, but...
10 COMs, those tablets there that Moses brought down from his mountain to enforce monotheism and subdue paganistic disorder among his own tribe of Egypt-fleeing ex-slaves of Pharaoh, were never intended for Global Consumption by an AWLS or Arbitrary Western Legal System.
I'm not wrong on this, am I?
My feeling is that, and this is just a feeling, 10 COMs was just a sensible list of suggestions Moses being a wise ruler (personally) etched (or had a tradesman etch) into stone to control rampant covetousness, false witnessing, graven image making and killing among his own flock, Canannites searching for their homeland, heading east then north.
10 COMs are, of course, part of the bible every witness in a western court of law swears on to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help them god, right? Well, well, well, what's that there, just there on the second of the two tablets, reading from left to right, IX (shalt not bear false witness). During a court case, won't ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER always technically 'bear false witness' to protect their interpretation of the evidence?
You could also argue that (if we're swearing on the bible) we should 'never suffer a witch to live' either, among other inane and insane old ideas/judgements it contains.
Whatever happened to TRUTH, WHOLE TRUTH, NOTHING BUT i.e. fair cop, mate?
